HEADACHE / MIGRAINE

Botox is used in selected patients in the treatment of chronic headache/migraine/facial pain,where this pain is caused by facial muscle spasm.

These patients usually have evidence of clenching of their jaw muscles or grinding of their teeth.This causes muscle spasm which in turn causes pain.

This is detected after careful clinical examination.

If after a period of conservative therapy the chronic headache/migraine/facial pain persists Botox may be effective,in a selected group, in reducing muscle spasm

Botox by reducing the spasm then reduces the frequency and intensity of pain.This also prevents further grinding and damage to the teeth.
